This workshop was organised by the Department of Electronics and Computer Science in association with FOSSEE, IIT Bombay. The sessions were led by the eSim Team, FOSSEE, IIT Bombay. There were around 100 students who attended the workshop. The workshop introduced participants to the FOSSEE ecosystem, eSim tool, and its applications in circuit design, simulation, and research migration. It provided students with a rich hands-on learning experience, promoting the adoption of open-source tools to drive innovation and self-reliance in electronics design. The students were also encouraged to contribute to the Research Migration Project, one of the activity under eSim where students can contribute and earn certificates, honoraria and recognition on the FOSSEE webpage.

Semiconductor Career Awareness and Opportunities:

eSim team member Mr. Sumanto Kar was invited as a speaker for the “Semiconductor Career Awareness and Opportunities” session held on 26th October 2025 (Sunday) from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM at the EEGG Conference Room, Electrical Engineering Department, IIT Bombay. The event, jointly organized by IIT Bombay and SemiX, aimed to connect classroom learning with real-world applications in the fast-growing semiconductor industry. He shared insights on open-source tools and the various initiatives undertaken in the FOSSEE project and highlighted how platforms like eSim enable students and researchers to explore circuit design and simulation.

Hands-on Workshop on eSim | At Department of Electrical Engineering, IIT Bombay:

As part of the EE204 course, the eSim Team conducted a hands-on workshop on eSim on 11th October 2025 and 29 October 2025. The session was conducted by the eSim team at IIT Bombay. This was delivered to around 120, Second Year B.Tech Electrical Engineering students. The workshop introduced participants to eSim, an open-source EDA tool developed under the FOSSEE initiative, focusing on circuit design, simulation, and analysis. Throughout the session, students experienced the complete workflow from installing eSim to designing and analyzing real-world circuits. The team explained the potential applications of eSim and demonstrated practical use cases through live hands-on examples. The session further their understanding of analog circuit behavior and strengthened their practical skills through using an open-source EDA tool.

On Friday, 31st October 2025, an eSim Quiz was conducted. Students were given two circuit design problems to create, simulate, and test using eSim, showcasing their understanding of circuit simulation. The completed designs were submitted through the IIT Bombay Moodle platform. This quiz was conducted as part of the EE204 – Analog Circuits course.

CE627: Structural Design Lab II Course at IIT Bombay:

As a part of CE627: Structural Design Lab II Course, around 30 students were trained in designing of steel structures using Osdag. There were 2 sessions taken on 8 and 15 October 2025. The course covered multiple software (including commercial), and the Osdag team demonstrated how Osdag stands out as an open source alternative to some of the commercial software. The team demonstrated to do effective dissemination of concepts through Osdag.
